County and District Councillors – Cllr Poskitt reported the transition to the new unitary authority had been uneventful. Work is underway on the Community Network with surveys on wants and needs being carried out. Cllr Poskitt’s locality budget is now open again.

Fly Tipping – If this refers to the fly tipping on Moor Lane this has now been removed by the Council.
Bird Scarer – Clerk to respond to the resident. The bird scarer in question is not in the Stutton cum Hazlewood Parish but if there are any concerns then the resident should contact the Local Authority Environmental Health Team which is the correct enforcing authority for a noise complaint of this nature.
230512 – None
230513 – Village Hall Update – Councillor Spurrier
Finance Update – £6783.70 in the bank and in cash. This is an increase of £691.50 over last month largely due to a heating bill grant from Asda secured by Mike Grayson, and a private donation of £75.00
General Update – Social evenings continue to be well attended and we are considering one Tuesday a month holding a cinema night for the wider community. We would need to buy a Public Video Screening Licence costing £123.33 plus VAT.
A Coronation celebration was held on Sunday 7th May. Around 140 people attended ranging in age from toddlers to over 80’s. Excellent day was had by all, helped by the weather and lots of positive comments from residents. As always massive thanks to the small but dedicated group of individuals who plan, organise and deliver these events.
Future events include – future talks for example Historic Tadcaster / a Race Night in September / Wreath making on the run up to Christmas and maybe one or two BBQ’s through the summer.
I mentioned the small and dedicated group of individuals who run these events, ambition is being managed to avoid “burn out” as all have full time jobs as well.
One issue the recent events have highlighted are the poor state of the toilets, particuarly at the Coronation event. We need to try to seek grant funding to upgrade the toilets possibly by adding a urinal and a baby changing area. A conservative estimate for this is £3,000. Any improvements that are made will help the village hall be more functional and add to it’s appeal as a venue to hire.
230514 – Councillors’ Forum
A Jackdaw Crag Quarry / Darrington Quarries. Several complaints from residents regarding overspill on Moor Lane. Clerk to write to Darrington Quarries (please send photogaphs attached with the correspondence showing the issues) to say that the Parish Council has received several reports from concerned residents regarding the overspill on Moor Lane from Lorries leaving Jackdaw Crag Quarry and ask that this be investigated as a matter of urgency.
B Old London Road Quarry. Clerk to write to Sam Till regarding planning application no NY/2018/0009/FUL. In the letter please stipulate that the last information the Parish Council had received was that the County Council had confirmed with the applicant that they would accept an extension of time to the 31st August 2021 for the submission of further information and Environmental Statement. As this date has long since passed the Parish Council would like an update on the current situation.
C Harmony Energy – Proposed BESS Development on land at Warren Wise Farm, Warren Lane, LS24 9NU. Gill, I have copied the original email from Hannah Chapman at the end of this email. You sent it to all of us on April 9th. Clerk to write to write and accept the offer for Hannah Chapman and Frances Nicolson to come and speak to the Parish Council regarding the proposed development. The favorable date would be the next council meeting in June but failing that if some dates could be suggested by Hannah.
